Dog Show and Seminar in Dublin 21-22 November 2015
Going to Ireland
I would like to tell you about what happened September the 1st when I found a mail in the spam box from someone named Fionnuala Malone. While the head line said "All Terrier..." I set it as non spam and made it possible for me to read.
After I had asked Chris what he thought, I decided to answer the mail with a: "Yes I would be delighted to do that". The answer started a big work for me to put together a talk for 1,5 hours in English!
When that was done it was time to get good photos to illustrate it. I have some thousands in my computer and with help from many breeder colleges and other people interested in taking good photos I got a nice photo collage to work with. Thanks to you all for letting me use your wonderful photos!!
The talk was about how Chris and I found the breed and about our thoughts and goals when breeding. There were some history about the breed in Sweden since we came in in 1986 and the development up till today.
I also talked about working Wheatens and what an all-round dog the breed is.
Of course there were a big section about the coat, the structure and development and how important the breed type is.
I also pointed out how important the breeders and judges from Ireland are!
In the 2nd part I talked about the breed standard and how to interpret it. For that I had lots of photos to illustrate the different parts of the dog.
In the last part the were a slideshow of photos showing Wheatens in many ways and how useful they are.
After that two litter brothers with different coats were shown and the participants could put their hands on them to feel the coolness in the correct coat.
I would like to thank the All Terrier Club for inviting me to this event and I was very honoured to get the invitation. It was a day I will never forget!
Chris and I made this travel to a kind of mini holidays and stayed at a hotel in Central Dublin for a few nights. We were out in the town every day and had some great days.
When the secretay of the breed club got to know I had said yes to the seminar she asked if I would like to judge a show there as well. I said "yes" to that too and the club got permission from the Irish Kennel Club.
There were some 31 dogs entered to the show, and the committe was very pleased of that entry.
I found the quality over all very good of the dogs and though a slippery wooden floor most of them could manage to move freely.
I would like to thank everybody who showed their beautiful dogs for me and I'm very honoured you entered them for me.
